Let us first understand why you need a Residence Visa

The simple answer is to work legally you need a visa and it also makes the person eligible to some benefits;

  • You can open a bank account
  • You can avail of a personal loan from the bank
  • Your children can be admitted into a school
  • You are eligible for Government healthcare services and insurance
  • You can get a driving license and purchase a car

Here are some visas to reside in UAE that you can seek to work and grow, within this emerging country;

Employment Visa

This is the most common type of visa and is issued to skilled professionals and qualified workforce, who are employed by organizations and companies, holding various positions like managers, executives, etc. This visa gives permission to live and reside in UAE, legally. The employer could be a private entity or a Government body in mainland Dubai or a part of the free trade zone. However, the individual needs to be sponsored by the employer. This type of visa is valid for 2 years for employees working with private entities, and 3 year validity for choosing to work with the Government. This type of visa is issued for, 1, 2 or 3 years, and can be renewed thereafter.

The following documents are required to obtain the Visa:

  • A valid passport and a copy of it
  • Your Photograph
  • Copies of educational certificates
  • A copy of a company card from the employer
  • Emirates ID Card
  • Health Insurance and medical screening reports

Investment Visa

Those who wish to start a business in the UAE or want to invest in a stake in any business based out of UAE, should apply for an investment visa. Such individuals are eligible to long term investment visas of 5 to 10 years, which can further be renewed.

Eligibility for 10-year UAE long term Golden residence visa:

  • Invests AED 10 million or more in public sector
  • Have a company in the UAE with capital of AED 10 million or more
  • Strategic partner of an existing company in UAE or a new set-up with share value of AED 10 million and above
  • Having a total investment of AED 10 million in the above-mentioned areas; and investment in other that real estate should not be lesser than 60 percent of total investments

Family Visa

Once you have successfully secured your visa, you can opt to invite your spouse, children and parents, to live with you. Here are some pre-conditions for a family visa;

  • The person who wants to bring his family, must deposit AED 3,000 per family member, which is refundable
  • If you are an employee and want to sponsor your family, the income must be minimum of AED 4,000 or salary of AED 3,000 plus extra rental benefits by employer
  • If both parents are to reside in UAE, the individual’s monthly income should be at least AED 20,000
  • You must also have a place of accommodation which could be on rent or should have purchased an apartment for sale in Dubai.
