We must have all experienced the 'work from home' saga thanks to the pandemic. Many corporates have taken advantage of this situation and made hybrid working, as their new policy. Working from home does have many advantages such as; enjoying a work-life balance, spending less time commuting, and being able to work in your comfort zone within a suitable environment.

While it's a great feeling to simply lounge on your living room sofa and work on the laptop, it is not always the wisest thing to do. Poor posture may cause injuries and reduce productivity. Therefore, we suggest setting up legit office space within your home, that promotes a professional work environment and facilitates a greater capacity to work.

The best part of curating a home office is that you get to customize the furniture or at least buy a desk that suits your taste. You even get to decorate the space to your liking and play around with vibrant colors. So here are a few tips to help you get started;

#1 Dedicate Some Space

We understand that not all homes have extra square feet, that can be converted into a full-fledged office room. Luxury homes in Dubai are huge enough and some come with a spare room that can accommodate all work-station essentials. However, if you are devoid of such leisure, don't be disheartened. The 1-2bhk homeowners living in families can find a corner in their bedroom or living area, that can accommodate a desk, chair, and printer, functional office.

#2 Introduce Privacy

It's unprofessional for your dog or kid to show up on your webcam during a private meeting. Consider yourself lucky if you have a room with a door to cordon off the office area. If not, add a make-do partition or hang curtains that will at least ensure that no intruder walks in at a time when they are not supposed to. Working in a peaceful and stress-free space makes a huge positive difference.

#3 Ensure Proper Lighting

If you work during the day shift and have access to a window that invites natural light, you are very fortunate. If not, then ensure that the lighting is proper. Choose LED lights, as they are more energy-efficient and brighten up the room with ease. Keep the fancy and dim lights for your bedroom, not the office area. You ought to have a well-lit room so that even working through the wee hours of the night does not put a strain on your eyes.

#4 Prioritize Comfort

Often we are picky about the sofa set but don't pay heed to the kind of office chair that suits us. If you are planning to spend 6 hours a day and 30 hours a week on that chair, it better be comfortable. Research the net and study the ergonomics of office furniture, before you pay a visit to IKEA or any local furniture store. Chairs must have a good back and neck support, while the computer table should be at a height that supports your hand and has an elevation for the screen to be at eye level.

#5 Make Room For Storage

Every office needs a cabinet or a drawer that can accommodate important documents & files. There are numerous smartly designed storage furniture available in the market, that don't occupy much space but serve the purpose.
